My Wardrobe – The Story Behind The Market Affair

Welcome to The Market Affair — Western Sydney’s first-ever live Depop-inspired market event, and now a growing fashion community, business and online platform.

It all started with my wardrobe. I’ve always been that friend — the one with clothes for every occasion. Weddings, birthdays, last-minute nights out? My place was the first stop. “Come raid my wardrobe” was a weekly sentence.

But before one holiday, I hit that “I have way too much stuff” moment and needed to sell fast. Depop wasn’t cutting it. Lowball offers, slow buyers, and postage nightmares — it was exhausting. And there weren’t any good fashion-forward local markets. That’s when I realised: if it doesn’t exist, I’ll create it.

The First Event – Olympus Studio, Penrith

Our first event launched with zero expectations and a whole lot of clothes. By 9:59 AM, over 300 girls were lined up outside. Someone described it as a scene from Mean Girls — chaotic, but in the best way possible ! By the end of the day, over 1,000 people had walked through the doors. Sellers were smiling, buyers were buzzing - it was unreal.

We then hosted a second event the following weekend — indoors and outdoors — with even more space and a more relaxed vibe. Most sellers came back for round two because their first day was so successful.

What The Market Affair Is Now

The Market Affair is no longer just my wardrobe or a one-day event — it’s a growing fashion resale business and brand. We now help others do the same: clear out their wardrobes, build their brands, and actually make real money from fashion.

We welcome everyone from first-time sellers to small businesses, creatives, and side hustlers who want a chance to stand out. And with our new online marketplace launching soon, sellers will be able to reach customers 24/7 — not just at the event.
